What Does Full Coverage Car Insurance Cover ?

Full coverage car insurance is one of the most misunderstood policy in Florida. This is a term used informally by many companies, in fact, only serves two purposes. One, to customers in fake security blanket and two, to meet minimum insurance requirements under Florida law.

Too often clients ensure they have "full coverage," Attorney David Lipcon of Miami car explained. Unfortunately, they're often surprised after we review their policies and find full coverage means something completely different that full coverage that is quite clear.

Typically, a full coverage policy in Florida include the following:
  • Personal Injury Protection (PIP): PIP covers Your medical bills and $10,000 loss of income due to a car accident. This could include reduced coverage and can be used regardless of who was wrong.
  • Property damage liability: Florida requires drivers to carry at least $10,000 in Property Damage Liability, which is used to cover the damage to the other driver's car if you are wrong in the crash.
This is a short list of surprise for all terms that include, "full". What happens if the medical bills exceed $10,000? Or if you injure another person in an accident? What if the wrong driver do not have car insurance? You will not be covered; But, you will be left with the costs of out-of-pocket a hefty.

The best way to ensure your family and your car fully protected is by reviewing your current insurance policy and meet with your agent to discuss options for additional coverage. Lipcon following list as other important options:
  • Medical payments: That is more often called the Med Pay, it covers the rest of the driver's medical bills not covered by the PIP them.
  • Body Injury liability (BI): BI bore injuries or deaths from the driver's mistakes on others.
  • Drivers who are not insured UM: (UM) bear the costs of the treatment of a driver who was injured during car accidents with drivers who do not have or do not have insurance.
  • Collision: this insurance cover damage to your vehicle from accident, it doesn't matter who's wrong.
  • Comprehensive: it covers the Insurance vehicle damage caused by an event that is not an accident.
While the full standard coverage package leaves something not required by the Act, the responsible driver should not overlook other plans. Lipcon recommends drivers to review their policy plans-before the need to use it – by reviewing their declaration page, talk to an agent about other options, and added the most affordable coverage that can be they get.
