Best Tricks You Can Use to Lower Car Insurance Quotes

Car insurance companies like to use various tricks in order to raise your insurance quotes. Luckily, there are ways you can use those tricks to your advantage and lower your car insurance premium. However, not every insurance company has unreasonable car insurance premiums. For people who live in areas that have high numbers in car crime or have very expensive cars, they must pay more. But, these are not the only things for which insurance companies like to increase your premium.

In fact, insurers have gone so far that they will even rise your premium based on your gender, age, profession, where you park, what you drive, where you drive and even based upon your post code. This is why we have done a bit of research and come up with ways that can help anyone get a cheaper car insurance without much fuss.

Be careful what job title you use
When you fill in a car insurance application, you will get to the part where you must describe your job. The insurance companies set their rates based upon how much money you make, and they see how much money you make by checking the average pay a certain job position has. For example, if you describe your job position as “chef” your quote will be significantly higher than if you say you are a part of “kitchen staff”.

It’s all about the technicalities and the first thing you should do is check if your job description can be categorized as multiple different positions. After you have done that, you should check for car insurance quotes for each category and use the one that is the cheapest when applying for an insurance policy. If you are retired or a full time parent, make sure that you do not check “unemployed” because it will cost you extra money.

Cut down on unnecessary costs
The first thing you will have to check is what your car insurance quote includes. Does it include windscreen cover, breakdown cover, theft coverage, accidents coverage, etc.? Each if these things combined can add up a lot to the price of the premium. Furthermore, a lot of things mentioned could already be covered by other insurance policies, such as travel insurance, your AA membership, your home insurance, and in some cases, even bank accounts.

Make sure that you check your other policies so that you don’t pay twice for the same coverage. One other thing you should keep in mind is to check the amount of excess on the car insurance policy you choose. The higher the car insurance is, the lower the excess will be, so make sure that you figure out the amount you can pay if an accident occurs and set the excess accordingly.

Payments interest
Many people don’t know that car insurance companies require you to pay interest when making a monthly payment for your insurance. Well, they do make you pay interest. And, this is a matter you should look into when choosing a car insurance policy. The insurers always seem to “forget” to mention these interests, so make sure that you ask them on your own. On the other hand, if you have the cash, you should pay the insurance up in front so that you can safely avoid having to pay additional money.

Ask for a better deal
If your current insurance is bound to expire soon, you should look for better options and compare them with your current quotes. Then, you should see what kind of a renewal does your current provider offer, and if their offer is not at all better, then you should ask for more. Many insurance providers appreciate loyal customers and you should have those kinds of people taking care of you and your car.

All of the things mentioned above have helped me deal with insurance companies and their manoeuvres. They have also taught me to know the difference between bad policies and good ones. If you stick to this advice, you will also find it easier to cope. However, make sure that you do a wide insurance search and to compare car insurance companies and the policies they offer before you choose one.
